I’ve spent most of my life playing, teaching, and thinking about music in and around Boston. It’s where I’ve gigged, where I’ve taught, and where I’ve worked with thousands of students over the years as a Professor of Guitar at Berklee College of Music.
When people reach out to me for private guitar lessons in Boston, they’re usually looking for something pretty simple: they want to get better, they want to understand what they’re doing, and they don’t want lessons to feel confusing or rigid. That’s exactly how I approach teaching.
I teach guitar because I genuinely enjoy helping people connect the dots — between technique, theory, songs, and the music they actually want to play.
Who I Work With (And Why It Works)
I work with a wide range of guitar players in the Boston area and beyond — beginners, intermediate players, advanced students, teenagers, and a lot of adults who are coming back to guitar after years away.
Some of my private students are:
Adults with busy jobs who want a creative outlet
Players who feel “stuck” and don ’t know what to work on next
College students looking to sharpen their skills
Teenagers who are serious about improving
Lifelong music fans who just want to play better and understand more
As a Berklee College of Music guitar professor, I’m used to working with students who have very different backgrounds and goals. That experience carries directly into my private lessons — I don’t expect everyone to want the same thing, and I don’t teach that way.
Why Students Choose to Study With Me
Boston has plenty of guitar teachers. What sets my lessons apart isn’t flash or hype — it’s experience and clarity.
I’ve been teaching for over 30 years, including more than two decades as a Professor of Guitar at Berklee College of Music. I’ve also spent my life gigging, writing music, and working in real musical settings. That combination matters.

What You Can Expect From Lessons With Me
Lessons are typically weekly or biweekly and always focused on steady, realistic progress.

Practical feedback you can actually use
A plan for what to work on between lessons
Progress that makes sense over time
I don’t believe in rushing or cramming information. I’d rather you truly understand a concept and be able to use it than move on too quickly.
